Leaving A Legacy

Updated: Apr 14, 2023

I came across the vision for the Cutco Office I was at for so many years. I loved this vision and I was so glad that I read it every time I did an interview. This was our vision:

We are developing the future leaders of the world. Our vision is to impact lives with a strong focus on personal growth. We will create visionary leaders who will lead and inspire future generations. We are going to change the world. The obstacles in life and in business are challenges that will make us better. Nothing will stand in our way from reaching greatness.

"The ones who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are usually the ones who do."

It was great saying this at least 3 times a week. It gave me a drive and a purpose to keep on pushing forward and reminding me of what I was a part of as a team. Also, since I said this in a group interview, it showed others of what we stood for and why they should be a part of our team.

Right now, being on my own, I have realized that I need something like this for myself.

I’m curious on other visions statements that are out there that has a goal to impact the world.

As many of you know, today is my Little Guy’s 1st Birthday!!! Since that day that he came into the world, I said goodbye to him as his adopting parents took him home the next day. Then 8 months later, I had to say goodbye to my beloved father as he died from a massive Heart-attack cased from a heart condition that no one knew about.

With this last 4 months that I have been without my father, I have realized that I’m not completely without him. There is this song that I loved growing up. My dad was gone during the Summer from being called out with his fire team when needed to work on putting out a wildfire. This Song reminded me that even though he maybe not home, I could still feel him there with me.

Even though he is not physically with my anymore, I still carry him within my heart. I carry the memories of a Lifetime, his Legacy for the rest of my life. I will never forget the amazing father that he was to me and my big sister, a loving husband to our mother, a Leader in our Church and Community, a well spoken Teacher, a great example of a father figure that pointed to our Heavenly Father,…

If you are a father or mother and you are wondering what you are creating now that you will be leaving behind in your children, I tell you this, it doesn’t take much. My dad had always gone out for coffee on Sunday morning really early, I think before anyone woke up. In high school, I realized that I didn’t have much time still left at home. So I thought about joining him for that Coffee time. That was in my Junior year of High School that we started our Sunday morning Father/Daughter Coffee Dates. Ever since, we tried to keep a regular Coffee Time.

The last time I saw my father, I happened to bump into him at the HomeDepot that I worked at while I was pregnant. I was there visiting and killing time before I went to work. He was there to look at getting supplies for a project he was working on. I remember making the comment to him that I had thought about texting him to go out for coffee and he said that I should had since he was free as well. Looking back, I wish that I did do that because that would have been our last coffee date instead of a month earlier when I treated him for his Birthday Coffee Date.

All I am saying, you never know when will be your last day with someone. Take each day you can to be with them, even if you are just enjoying each other’s company over a cup of coffee. You don’t have to making a long deep conversation. All it take is to be doing life together.
